How to register a private clinic in Kenya

A person or organisation desiring to operate a health institution business should apply for registration and licensing. The application is done in person at the KMPDC's offices. Ensure that you are eligible before making this application.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Obtain an application for registration of a health facility form from KMPDC's offices.
  2. Fill in the application form and attach the required documents.
  3. Proceed to pay the required registration fees.
  4. Submit the duly filled application form, all the required documents, and the payment receipt to the KMPDC offices.

The registration steps begin immediately and take 30 days. Once the process is down, KMPDC will contact you to collect the Health Institutions Registration Certificate in person.

How to check KMPDC registered facilities

It is advisable to know the KMPDC license status of a given facility before proceeding with treatment. Fortunately, the process is straightforward and can be done online.

  1. Visit the KMPDC's portal.
  2. Click on Registers.
  3. Click on Registered Health Facilities. Then, you will see two options: Health Institutions’ Register and Medical Camps’ Register.
  4. Click on either of the two.

You will see a list of registered institutions and medical camps. There is also a search bar, where you can enter the specific name you are looking for.
